This day-long event will include lunch, a tour of Rural Studio projects, and an expert agenda of topics and best practices on:
- Learning how solar and weatherization can be integrated into affordable housing programs to optimize affordability
- Exploring resilient housing design, storm protection, and Fortified construction from innovative architectural design from the ground up.
- Identifying partnership opportunities that leverage resources and expand impact statewide.
- Developing actionable strategies to incorporate resilience and sustainability into Habitat housing initiatives.
- Understanding practical energy-efficiency measures and best practices to help homeowners reduce their energy costs

Rural Studio is an off-campus design-build program, rooted in Hale County and part of the School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture of Auburn University. The core mission of Rural Studio is the education of students, coupled with research on sustainable, healthful rural living through both housing and the vital systems fostered to ensure communities thrive. Carrier Collaborates with Habitat for Humanity International to Build Energy-Efficient, Resilient Housing
Carrier Global Corporation, global leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, is expanding upon its longstanding collaboration with Habitat for Humanity International through a new initiative focused on building energy-efficient, resilient housing. With nearly 400 natural disasters recorded through the Emergency Events Database in 2024, Carrier’s efforts with HFHI focus on building fortified homes that can better withstand natural events, while remaining affordable for Habitat homeowners.
